Eyelash Extensions Questions & Answers
As a lash extension company, we get asked questions on the daily (which we love) so we thought it would be beneficial to put the most common ones on a blog post for easy access and to help out others who have the same questions! So let's get into it, lash extension questions and answers.
is redness normal?
- Flickering eyes
- Chemical burn (tape/pad rubbing)
- Opening their eyes too early
- Sensitivity
- Allergies
- Allergic reactions
- Infections
Why have i all of a sudden had a reaction to my lashes?
It's sh*t, we know.. but unfortunately, this is what can happen! You can have lashes on for 7 days, 7 months, 7 years and all of a sudden develop a reaction.
What is an indication of a reaction?
- Puffiness
- Itching
- Pain
- Redness around the eye
- Watering eyes
- Runny nose in some cases
Try and find the cause, is it cyanoacrylate or carbon black? If it's carbon black, try a clear glue. We would recommend your client seeing a doctor to confirm the allergy.
How long do they last for?
Do eyelash extensions ruin your natural lashes?
Absolutely not, if they're done correctly.
But if your lashes have been done poorly they'll become uncomfortable and cause damage to your natural lashes.
Isolation should be the top of a lash artists priority, always check for stickies at the end of your sets!
If they're pulled/picked out this'll cause long term damage also (this is why regular infills are important so outgrown lashes can be safely removed)
But if they're cared for well, you can have infills over and over again and have 0 damage.
do EYELASH extensions need washing?
Yesssssss, daily, and we can't emphasise this enough.
Cleansing removes oils, dirt and debris from your lashes and avoids infections, not to mention how much better cleansed lashes look!
If this is something you can't keep up with, avoid lashes as you'll have endless issues with dirty, uncared for lashes.
Not cleansing your lashes can lead to build up and damage, which will become painful and take a while to remove!
Also, only use a Lash Shampoo to cleanse.
can i get my lashes wet after my appointment?
Yes! Lashing has evolved massively over the past few years, glues are more advanced and new products have entered the game.
Adhesive cures with the help of moisture drawn from the air.
Superbonding your sets allows the adhesive to cure straight away, nanomisters disburse a mist that will aid your adhesive in drying faster too.
Some lash artists even offer a post lash cleanse to help cure the glue and limit fumes.
