eyelash extension mapping

When mapping your sets, take into consideration the clients eye shape and what will suit them best. You should have a consultation before their appointment at their patch test or before their full set.

Use a lash mapping pen to mock up the lengths on the tape/pads, or if you have mapping stickers and ensure the client is happy with their mapping, help them understand how the wrong mapping can make their eyes look droopy and uneven! Never do one size fits all, this is typically where a lot of lash artists go wrong.

If you want to change the lash mapping at infills- you may need to remove and re apply the whole set as the left over lashes may be different sizes to fit the desired set, don't do anything you're not comfortable with, if a client asks for mapping you're unsure about or don't want to do- you can say no.

Cat eye mapping inner corner is the shortest length and the outer corner is the longest

e.g: 8-9-10-11-12-13-14

Best suited for close set, hooded, almond and round eye shapes!

We always recommend adding a couple of shorter length lashes at the end of their lashes to ensure the outer corners don't look droopy and bring their eyes down.

Squirrel starts at the shortest length on the inner, longest length at the brow bone and then shortens toward the end e.g: 8-9-10-11-12-13-12-11

Best suited for close set, hooded, downturning eyes. As well as almond, round and deep set.

Fox eye usually means a very dramatic but sharp cat eye. The difference is the curl used. Fox is done with a an L or M curl e.g: 6-7-8-9-10-11

Best suited for close set, upturn, downturning, protruding eyes. Almond and round also.

Doll/open eye inner corner starts at the shortest length and the longest in the middle, going back down to the shortest length on the outer corner e.g: 8-9-10-11-12-11-10-9-8

Best suited for upturn, downturn, wide set, monolid, deep set and almond eyes.

Wispy sets can be made with any style. The only difference would be adding a skeleton of spikes in between that are 2-3mm longer than the base e.g:  8-11-9-12-10-13-11-14

Best suited for close set, wide set, deep set and almond eyes.

The wet lash look like the wispy sets can be done with any style. They are made with extremely narrow fans that create the separation between the lashes e.g: 6-7-8-9-10-11

Best suited for close set, wide set, almond and deep set eyes.

Above, you can see cat eye brings the eyes up and widens them (almond shape)

with the downturning eyes they look droopy and tired.

Mapping is everything!

Sometimes clients want a style that isn't suited to their eye shape,

this is why it's important to educate and explain to them what the best option is and why you don't recommend certain styles on them.
